VAT Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparation and submission of VAT & Intrastat returns-
- Ensure the accurate preparation and timely submission of VAT returns
- Ensure the accurate preparation and timely submission of intrastat reports.
- Arrange payments of VAT liabilities in a timely manner.
- Submission of 8th Directive refunds.
- Compilation of supporting documents to ensure that full audit trail is available for audit inspections on a timely basis.
- Reconciliation of VAT accounts.
Ensure compliance with indirect tax and fiscal requirements:
- Responsible for compliance of transactions, documentation etc from a VAT & Intrastat perspective.
- Responsible for commodity codes for new product set up.
- Validate the VAT set up of products and continuously review product flows
- Partner with the business to understand business requirements and ensure that the product flows and systems design are compliant with fiscal requirements.
- Ensure all documentation is in compliance with the EU Invoicing Directive and other fiscal requirements in each country.
- Develop procedures and controls to improve VAT reporting and compliance.
- Review and monitor the vat processes in respect of the new service business.
- Manage the process around Vat registrations & associated Vat compliance work
- Co-ordinate with external service providers in providing VAT advice
Ensure the integrity of the VAT & Intrastat systems
- Co-ordinate with other departments and business units to ensure the integrity of the systems and controls relating to VAT & Intrastat.
- Ensure that the T&E process complies with VAT rules in each jurisdiction as appropriate.
- Review and validate the process of purchase and sales invoices on a regular basis, ensuring appropriate VAT treatment and correct use of VAT codes.
- Provide training on documentation, VAT codes etc to other employees as appropriate.
- Implement and maintain the VAT Manual for all entities.
Prepare all the information requested by internal and external Auditors.
- Identify and report on potential VAT Risks
- Develop procedures and controls to be implemented on a monthly basis to ensure accurate VAT and intrastate reporting.
- Ensure supporting documentation is available to audit review as required.
- Advise management of any Vat audits notified and co-ordinate with finance, statutory accounting, corporate tax and external advisors as appropriate to prepare the information required for the audit.
- Travel to the local offices to support audits and investigations.
Organisational Effectiveness
- Continue to improve & enhance the role of the Vat department.
- Implement induction programs for new team members.
- Continue to implement staff development initiatives to motivate the team and enhance performance.
- Evaluate and meet with team on a regular basis and initiate organizational changes and staff recruitment where necessary.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Accountancy qualification
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in a senior European Vat role
- Knowledge of European VAT requirements
- Experience in the preparation of returns and submissions for European VAT, Intrastat and VIES declarations.
- Fluency in additional European languages an advantage
- Knowledge of SAP desirable
